About Animal Adoption

Metro Animal Care and Control has animals available for adoption every day. If you are looking to add an awesome animal to your family, Metro Animal Care and Control is the right place to find your new furry friend. Before adopting, we suggest you do your research on pet care and the right animal for your family, as this is a long term decision.

See photos and information for animals available for adoption from our shelter by searching on 24 Pet Connect.

At any point in time, dozens of pets are available at MACC’s shelter. Still other available pets reside in foster care. To adopt a pet from foster care, email [emailprotected].

More available pets are available through our re-homing program, Home to Home. Please note, animals listed on Home to Home are not at our shelter. To contact their owner, please click on the animal’s picture and select the contact owner button.

Adoption Process

Once you arrive, take time to view all of the animals available for adoption. Adoption counselors and volunteers will be on site to guide you through every step of the adoption process. The adoption process includes: filling out an application, counseling session, and interacting with the animal you are interested in adopting. Please be sure to set aside several hours to complete the entire process of interaction and adopting a pet.

Our agency believes that introducing a new pet to your home should be a decision that involves all members of the family. If you have children living in your home, they should be a part of the adoption process.

To ensure that the animals do not add to Nashville's population of unwanted animals, our agency requires every healthy animal adopted from our center to be surgically sterilized (spayed or neutered).

If the animal you are adopting has already been spayed/neutered, it will be able to go home with you after your adoption is complete. If not, your pet will need to stay and you will pick him or her up after spay/neuter surgery.

Adoption Fees

  • Dogs: $90.00
  • Cats: $40.00
  • Kittens: $60.00

Adoption fees include spay/neuter, microchip, rabies license, initial core vaccines and parasite treatments.

We also has several discounts. View the Metro Animal Care and Control fee schedule.
