She was born May 18, 1961 in Indianapolis, IN to John L. Porteous Jr and Merrell Lee (Jones) Porteous. Susie was a graduate of North Central High School. She attended Butler University, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She then went on to earn her degree in Cytotechnology from Indiana University. Susie worked for IU Health Bloomington Hospital, retiring after 30 years as the Anatomic Pathology Supervisor for the South Central Region. Before being diagnosed with ALS in 2020, Susie was all about outdoor recreation. She loved hiking, camping, bonfires, gardening, cooking, crafting,... Gloria graduated from Butler University with a Bachelor of Arts, and was a Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority member. She went on to teach at the B'ham Civic Ballet and worked with the company from 1963 to 1967. From 1967 to 1970, Gloria was a chair and taught at the Interlochen Center for the Arts. She was the artistic director of the Milwaukee Ballet from 1972 to 1974, and then became an instructor and chair at the UWM Dance Department until her retirement.
