Whether you’re preparing a steaming bowl of traditional ramen or elevating other dishes with a spicy twist, this seasoning mix is your secret weapon.

Homemade spicy ramen seasoning

I’ve developed a preference for making my own homemade spicy ramen seasoning over the years. Part of the reason is my desire to avoid the additives commonly found in store-bought ramen seasoning packets. But the main reason is that creating flavorful ramen seasoning from scratch is incredibly quick and easy, resulting in a freshness that’s hard to beat!

In our household, we really enjoy ramen noodles so I’m always making sure to keep my homemade ramen seasonings stocked. I always keep my go-to chicken flavored ramen noodles seasoning as well as my beef flavored ramen seaosning blend on hand.

And this one is no different.

This seasoning is a straightforward combination of various spices and herbs that can be whipped up in just a few minutes. And let me tell you, this homemade ramen seasoning works its magic with just about any type of ramen you might be craving!

What makes this recipe even more enticing is its versatility. You can easily customize it to your taste by experimenting with different spices, herbs, or heat levels. It also keeps well in a sealed container, so you can prepare a larger batch to last you a while. (Which, by the way, is excellent motivation to enjoy more ramen — it’s always easier when you have some delicious seasoning at the ready!)

So, let’s get to it!

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons chicken bullion cubes (or homemade bullion powder)
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust for spiciness)
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger (optional)

How to make a spicy ramen seaosning recipe

1. Combine the dry ingredients: In a mixing bowl or plate, combine the chicken bullion cubes, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, ground ginger, black pepper, cayenne pepper (adjust to taste), thyme, and sea salt.

2. Adjust Spiciness: Here’s where you can make the seasoning as mild or fiery as you like. If you prefer a milder blend, use less cayenne pepper. For those who crave heat, feel free to increase the cayenne and black pepper gradually until you achieve the desired spiciness level. Remember, you can always start with a small amount and add more if needed.

Storing the seasoning

Transfer your spicy ramen seasoning into an airtight container to keep it fresh. Store it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. When stored properly, this seasoning mix can stay flavorful for up to 6 months.

Ways to use spicy seasoning for ramen

Here are some great ways to use it:

  • Ramen Broth: Enhance your ramen broth by adding a teaspoon or two of this spicy seasoning mix for an extra layer of flavor.
  • Topping: Sprinkle the seasoning on top of your finished ramen dishes for a spicy touch.
  • Meat Rub: Use the seasoning as a rub for grilled or roasted meats like chicken, pork, or beef.
  • Stir-Fry Spice: Add a few teaspoons to your stir-fry dishes for a fiery kick.
