Barcelona
A famous city on the Mediterranean, Barcelona is a mix of local culture, superb architecture and lots of fun.
Barcelona is deservedly famous: there’s just so much to do and so many places to explore. You can visit a new neighborhood or plaza (public square) every day of your stay. The restaurants are superb and the nightlife has something for all. Quiet days can take you to the beach while active days let you experience some of the world’s finest attractions.
But with so much on offer, Barcelona cannot be rushed. This is a city that needs time. Visit for just three days and you can only scratch at the surface. Stay for weeks and you can truly explore like a local, diving into the heart of what makes Barcelona so special. The public transport is excellent as well, making independent exploration very straight-forward.
From a famous attraction like Sagrada Familia to a less-touristic local district, Barcelona will reveal its charms as long as you give the city time. Best of all, Barcelona is a city with a proudly vibrant culture. It’s something that is all around you. And the more you practice your Spanish the more you will enjoy the experience.
Sagrada Familia
Gaudi’s masterpiece is more than a century in construction. Its towering spires act as compass points in the city and the artistic detail is unlike anything else in the world. Quite simply, La Sagrada Familia is unmissable for all who visit Barcelona.
Barceloneta Beach
Bars and restaurants line the golden sands of Barceloneta Beach, where the atmosphere can be relaxed or lively dependent on how you feel. Come here to sunbathe and swim, or come for the afternoon and stay long into the evening.
FC Barcelona
The world’s most famous football club puts on a show, whether you are visiting for a live match or not. Take a tour of Camp Nou, the hallowed stadium, or find yourself tickets for a game. Either way, it’s an inspiring experience.
Gothic District
Barcelona’s historic heart is a wonderful mix of shops, bars, plazas and elegant architecture. Here you can explore without a map and always stumble upon a new treasure. Stay for a few weeks in Barcelona and you’ll find personal favourites in this old cultural hub.
Park Guëll
Strange colours and unique mosaics are dotted around Park Guëll, a quiet place to hang out and look over the city. Designed by Gaudi more than a century ago, this is perhaps the world’s most unique public park, a place you’ll want to visit time and time again.

Our Spanish school in Barcelona
There’s a special Catalonian atmosphere to Linguaschools Barcelona. The modernistic building is typical of the city during the late 19th century, while the garden provides space for you to relax with new friends over a coffee. Situated in the heart of the city, the school surrounds you with everything Barcelona has to offer. Many popular attractions are within walking distance but there’s also a local atmosphere to the neighbourhood, with cafes and narrow alleys aplenty.
This means there are lots of different places to go when you have a break between lessons. There’s also good Wi-Fi if you need to reconnect with home. Evening and weekend activities help you really experience the region, from paella and tapas nights to flamenco and salsa classes, plus excursions to places like Figueres, Girona or the wine regions. But most importantly, Linguaschools Barcelona is a relaxed base in a bustling city. You’ll find peace and quiet here, which is perfect when you want to really learn Spanish.

Barcelona, 08009, Passatge Permanyer, 17
I brought my class of 16 students to Barcelona for three weeks hoping to spend two weeks learning Spanish and one week learning Catalán. Linguaschools went above and beyond to integrate us into their program, teaching both languages very well. The teachers and the overall experience--the homestay, the excursions, the workload--were fantastic. If you are looking to study Spanish (or Catalán) in Bar see more...
