This easy slow cooker pork steak recipe is incredibly adaptable – you can use any dry herb/seasoning mixture you love (taco spices, bbq rub, pork rub, five spice mix, etc.) – to make tender, never-dry pork steaks in the slow cooker with.

To make this recipe, you will need the following ingredients:

  • Pork Steaks: These are the star of the dish, providing a meaty and savory flavor. Pork steaks are typically cut from the shoulder or blade portion of the pig and offer a balance of lean meat and some marbling, which enhances the taste and texture.
  • Pork Rub: The pork rub is a blend of spices and seasonings that add layers of flavor to the pork steaks. It often includes ingredients like paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, and various herbs and spices. The rub not only seasons the meat but also creates a flavorful crust when the steaks are cooked.
  • Celtic Sea Salt: Celtic sea salt, known for its slightly briny and mineral-rich taste, enhances the overall seasoning of the pork steaks. It helps bring out the natural flavors of the meat and the spices in the rub. The salt also aids in tenderizing the pork as it cooks.
  • Fresh Cracked Pepper: Freshly cracked black pepper adds a mild heat and pungency to the pork steaks. It complements the other seasonings in the rub and provides a balanced flavor profile. The cracked pepper also contributes to the appearance of the steaks, adding specks of black to the crust.
  • Pat any excess moisture off pork steaks with paper towel.

All the meat along the loin is consideredpork chops –but the very front and very back parts of the loin have different bones.

The center cut ribpork chopand the ribeye porksteakboth come from the center of the loin – though their bones are different.

Both pork chops and pork steaks can be dry if overcooked or cooked wrong – but are easy if done correctly.

I like to cook them either in a slow cooker (slow and low), or seared in a pan and then baked in a very hot oven to bring perfect, tender and never-dry pork.

Tips to Perfect Easy Slow Cooker Pork Steaks:

This recipe for the best pork steaks in the slow cooker is surprisingly simple and delicious, but there are a couple tips and tricks to ensure perfect, never-dry slow cooker pork steaks.

Here are my favorite tips and tricks:

Pat pork dry. I really like to be sure the seasonings I am adding to the pork stick and sink in, so I am sure to pat them dry before adding the rub.

Don’t add extra liquid. We’re cooking thick cut pork steaks (or thick bone in chops) – which have plenty of fat. Don’t add in extra moisture – you don’t need it in the slow cooker!

Use a Rub you love. This recipe is totally adaptable – you can use pork rub, bbq pork rub, herbs de provence seasoning, taco mix, ranch dressing seasoning – any herb mix you love.

Instant Pot as Slow Cooker. Use your Instant Pot’s slow cooker settings and use directions: to speed up the cooking process, you can use an electric pressure cooker. Follow prep instructions below: Add pork steaks to instant pot inner pot. Close lid and set to seal. Seal and cook on high pressure for 15 minutes, natural release for 15 minutes before quick release.

  • 1 tsp celtic sea salt
  • 1 tsp fresh cracked pepper
