1970’s icon and former Runaways singer Cherie Curriefinally has confirmed a release date for her latest solo project, the new studio albumBlvds Of Splendor. Set to be released digitally on April 28, 2020 via Joan Jett’s Blackheart Records,Blvds Of Splendorwas produced by famed drummerMatt Sorum(Guns N’ Roses, Velvet Revolver, The Cult, Tori Amos). The full-length also includes guest collaborations with Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins, Slash and Duff McKagan from both Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver, Juliette Lewis, The Distillers’ Brody Dalle, and The Veronicas.

In 2016,Cherie Curriewas set to releaseBlvds Of Splendorwhen she had a near-death accident while chainsaw carving, falling over 12 feet to the ground off of a hilltop scaffolding. The accident left Currie with partial facial paralysis and severe head trauma for over 10 months. After her recovery, she met and went in the studio with Fanny drummer and vocalist Brie Darling and in 2019 the two released their critically-acclaimedThe Motivatoralbum via Blue Elan Records. Fortunately, Cherie Currie is back to chainsaw carving again and is ready to finally releaseBlvds Of Splendor, of which Currie had recently gone on record about with the quote: “I’ve never had so much fun making a record before.”

But there’s plenty to the life and career of Cherie Currie — who was portrayed by Dakota Fanning in a Runaways bio-pic released in 2010 — than Blvds Of Splendor and The Runaways. Beyond her solo career, which began with 1978’s Beauty’s Onyl Skin Deep, Currie embarked on a serious acting career in the 1980s and 1990s. She penned a memoir called Neon Angel in the late 1980s, as re-written with Tony O’Neill and re-released in 2010. Currie has also found success creating chainsaw-helmed artwork.
